NEWLYWEDS Sam and Amanda Morton from Liverpool who were on honeymoon in Thailand last night told how flooding has devastated the country.
Sam and Amanda Morton, from Liverpool, jetted off to Thailand for a fortnight after marrying on October 15.
But when they arrived, heavy rains forced swollen rivers to burst their banks, flooding streets and devastating transport networks.
The couple, who tied the knot at Wavertree Congregational church on Hunters Lane, in Wavertree, saw the chaos unfolding as they headed north from the capital Bangkok.
Mr Morton, 32, told the Daily Post: “It was pretty scary when we heard how bad things were in Bangkok.
“The main problem was the lack of information, not much was getting through.
“We weren’t sure if the airport would be open, or how badly flooded Bangkok actually was.”
The investment banker told how he saw locals panic-buying water as worries spread about diseases like cholera in the rising waters.
