WILL HARPER, brasserie manager at Liverpool’s Malmaison Hotel, has been named as the hospitality industry’s rising star of 2011.
He joined the waterfront hotel as assistant brasserie manager in May, 2010, and was honoured by the Academy of Food and Wine, the professional body for front-of-house service, in its Virgin Rising Star Awards.
He said: “I couldn’t believe it when my general manager nominated me for the award.
“To be shortlisted and go on to win recognition as a rising star is a dream come true.”
The Princes Dock hotel said their brasserie manager excelled in overcoming the problems of building work over the past year, when the building was covered in scaffolding.
“Will and his team have ensured that service levels are impeccable, the guest journey is a smooth, enjoyable and exciting ride.”
The company added that it had now placed him on several fast-track management courses, to ensure that he reached his full potential.
