New pitches at the Netherton Activity Centre unveiled by Jamie Carragher
LIVERPOOL FC star Jamie Carragher officially opened the country’s newest community outdoor football pitches.
The defender gathered with footballers from Bootle Bucks and Netherton Rangers junior sides to unveil the venue at Glovers Lane, Netherton.
The redeveloped site, run by Sefton Council, boasts four five-a-side and two seven-a-side pitches. They are located next to Netherton Activity Centre (NAC).
Carragher said: “These facilities are vitally important to the Netherton and Bootle areas, and we are very proud of them. I remember playing at the NAC as a kid, and it’s a lot better now with these excellent pitches. It’s tough times economically, so it’s great for parents to bring their children here – it will keep the children fit and give them lots of enjoyment.”
The pitches cost £700k and were designed with third-generation turf technology.
