A GIANT image of Alice in Wonderland was projected on to the front of the Albert Dock buildings.

The Lewis Carroll- inspired picture launched Tate Liverpool’s exhibition about the fairytale.

There will also be a Mad Hatter weekend on November 12 and 13 which will include several different activities. Liverpool’s celebrity milliner Hayley Marsden will make a one-off creation and deliver workshops in What’s Cooking, helping children create their own Mad Hat fit for a tea party with Hatter, the March Hare and the Dormouse.

There will also be a chance to meet one of the 15 faces of Alice, as she eats cake and drinks potions in various points around the dock, plus a team of walking playing cards who will be welcoming visitors and playing croquet with hedgehogs.

Andrea Nixon, of Tate Liverpool, said: “We are delighted that Tate Liverpool’s Alice in Wonderland exhibition has inspired such a lively and imaginative programme of family events.”

The exhibition runs from November 4 to January 29.
