New landing stage
A REPLACEMENT for the sunken Mersey Ferries landing stage at Pier Head was installed over the weekend.
The £8m stage will be linked by bridge to the ferry terminal.
It will also become home to a Mersey Fire and Rescue river-based community fire station.
Neil Scales, chief executive of Merseytravel, said: “This has been a significant project for Merseytravel and a long time coming.
“We are eager for the final stages of the project to come together so we can see the world famous Mersey Ferries calling once again at their spiritual home in front of the Three Graces.”
The eco-friendly landing stage boasts blue tinted glass and grey pebbles, designed to naturally reflect sunlight and keep the structure cool.
