Liverpool equestrian centre and first “zero carbon home” get go ahead

PLANS for a new purpose-built equestrian centre and Liverpool’s first “zero-carbon” home were given the go-ahead by planners.

Maghull Developments wants to build on the former Allerton Priory Home Farm, in south Liverpool, to create stables for 40 horses on 36 acres between Allerton Road and Woolton Road.

The firm, which already operates Formby Hall golf resort, said the complex would have an indoor arena and two outdoor arenas for horse riding.

The committee also heard that the eco-home would be the first “zero-carbon” home in Merseyside, but that conditions were in place to make sure it could not be occupied until work on the equestrian centre had started.
