LIVERPOOL schoolchildren are marking the 90th anniversary of the British Legion by attending special workshops at the city’s Anglican Cathedral.

Around 300 pupils have had the chance to sit in an Anderson shelter and hear the poetry of Wilfred Owen during the event around a new portrait of the poet on display in the cathedral.

They also came face to face with a modern day war hero Corporal Michael Davison, from the Duke of Lancaster Regiment, who won the Military Cross in Iraq.
