BEVERLEY KNIGHT paid tribute to the Hillsborough 96 during last night’s Liverpool concert by dedicating part of her performance to their memory.
The singer struck an emotive chord singing Shape of You in honour of the victims.
Knight said: “This beautiful, cultural city suffered a tragedy and so many of you are still fighting for justice.”
In an otherwise energetic performance, the slow, poignant lyrics, “With a hole in my heart in the shape of you” were hugely powerful.
The dedication came as Knight launched her Soul UK tour at Liverpool’s Philharmonic Hall.
She describes the show as a journey through the best of British music – and she is definitely a suitable guide.
The strength and conviction with which she sings each lyric carry the audience along with every track.
The power of her voice and performance is mesmerising. She physically gives herself up to the music and the energy she performs with is breathtaking.
