THE young son of Liverpool FC goalkeeper Brad Jones has lost his fight with leukaemia.
The team wore black armbands in their match at Chelsea yesterday in memory of five-year-old Luca.
A statement on Liverpool FC’s website said: “Liverpool Football Club were today deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Brad Jones's son Luca following a long battle with leukaemia.
“The thoughts of everybody at LFC are with Brad, his partner Dani, and their family and friends at this very sad time.”
In a recent interview, also on Liverpool’s website, Brad and Dani spoke about the impact of his son’s illness. He said he had felt numb when first told of the diagnosis, and hoped maybe it was a misunderstanding, but said: “Unfortunately it was right.”
Luca had been undergoing chemotherapy in France where he lived with his mother.
