MERSEYSIDE’S answer to Fred Dibnah will be laid to rest after travelling to his funeral via steam engine.
National Museums Liverpool worker David Letsch, 57, made the request after he found out he was dying from cancer.
Mr Letsch, from Clubmoor, worked on the Burrell steam engine during his 25 years with the large objects collection, and his employers made the 1911 Edwardian machine available to his family.
His funeral will take place at Anfield Crematorium on Thursday, at 12pm.
