LIVERPOOL councillors will today approve budget savings worth almost £31m.
It represents 60% of the £50m the council must save in the next year.
The authority plans to charge for more services to improve its income. An estimated £19.5m will be saved by reducing the amount of money set aside for contingencies and liabilities.
Other savings include plans to procure services at a lower price and carry out service reviews to see how departments can operate more efficiently.
Council leader Joe Anderson said: “When we announced the £90m of options which officers brought forward, the budget working group agreed to whittle them down and agree easier options quite quickly.
“But people need to know these are not just efficiencies and will still have an impact.”
A special full council meeting will be held on December 12 to approve the recommendations.
