Mark Rodaway
THE PRESTIGIOUS Calday Grange Grammar School has appointed Mark Rodaway to be its new headteacher.
Currently at the helm of Wallasey secondary The Mosslands, Mr Rodaway will succeed Andrew Hall and - the school hopes - draw a line under a scandal-hit period in its recent history.
Calday officials last night said they believed his arrival “closes a chapter” at the school keen to move on from the year-long suspension and eventual pay-off in May of Mr Hall.
His absence coincided with the school being stripped of its “outstanding” status by Ofsted, who told governors, led by the now departed Margaret Twemlow, to restore “confidence” among parents and staff.
Mr Hall had been hit with allegations he refuted, ranging from not reporting a foetus in a science room jar to being part of a bullying regime.
Mr Rodaway’s four-year headship at The Mosslands coincided with record GCSE and A-Level results and a commitment to ensuring students had hands-on access to business by working closely with the likes of Mersey Maritime Group and Unilever.
His rationale behind the jobs and skills drive was to give pupils the confidence and aptitude to build careers across a variety of sectors – as well as qualifications.
