Dad of wife killer Mitchell Quy dies
THE father of wife-killer Mitchell Quy has died at his home, at the age of 63.
Paramedics were called to Michael Quy's home, in Briars Lane, Lathom, near Ormskirk, yesterday morning.
They reported his sudden death to police at 7.55am, but officers are not treating it as suspicious.
Mr Quy's son, Mitchell, was jailed for life, in January, 2001, for murdering his wife, Lynsey, from Southport, the mother of his two children, in a case which shocked the whole country.
His brother, Elliot, was jailed for seven years for helping to dispose of the body.
Elliot was released in 2005 and Michael Quy told the Daily Post at the time that Elliot had received threats over the phone that, if he ever came back to Southport, he would be killed.
He also said: "I think he was cajoled into doing what he did by his brother, so he just wants to put it all behind him and get on with his life.”
One of Michael Quy's neighbours, who did not want to be named, knew of his death yesterday.
She said: "Michael was a lovely man and was always calling in to see another of our neighbours and treating him to a bottle of something.
"He never talked about his sons."
