Local Enterprise Partnership passes first hurdle for merging with The Mersey Partnership

LIVERPOOL’S new economic development agency has taken its first step to becoming a reality.

The shadow board of Liverpool city region’s Local Enterprise Partnership has voted unanimously to merge the organisation into tourism agency The Mersey Partnership (TMP).

As revealed in the Daily Post, ex-Liverpool John Lennon Airport boss Robert Hough will become chairman, once the merger has been approved by TMP next week.

It secures the future of TMP, which had faced uncertain future due to high levels of public funding.

The LEP currently only exists in a “shadow” form, and the Government will have to sign-off the merger before it gets the final green light.
