THE Welly Road Gets the Boot In project is looking for your old boots to recycle into eco-friendly planters.
Neighbours, businesses and local organisations are being encouraged to join in with the project, on Wellington Road, in Oxton, Wirral.
The planters will be created by the community from Wellington boots donated to the Green Community Shop and Centre and requests on Freecycle.
Each house will be offered the opportunity to plant a pair of wellies to display on their property.
Organiser Alison Bailey Smith said: “After a great lunchtime of frantic planting with Birkenhead School, we’re now left with only seven wellies – we need hundreds.
“We also need any bulbs or cuttings for trailing or small plants. Please drop in to Green Community Shop and Centre or to The Coffee Shop on Wellington Road.”
MERSEYSIDE Waste Disposal Authority has changed its name. It will now be known as Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority, to reflect the changing nature of waste management. They have moved away from purely disposal of waste and changed to a name which better reflects the resources management and recycling functions that the organisation now undertakes.
They’ll be amending their corporate identity to reflect the new name and adding in a new ambition. Merseyside – a place where nothing is wasted that will be used as part of the branding.
The change will be rolled out in phases, so as to get the most from existing stationery.
