A SENSORY garden is to be created in Liverpool’s Calderstones Park.
The new attraction is intended to help stimulate the senses of young children and people with disabilities through interaction with water, sound, wildlife and plant-life.
Designs are currently being drawn up and the garden is expected to be open in time for next spring.
It will replace the derelict greenhouse currently languishing on the site, which has been closed for two years and is becoming unsafe. City leaders insisted any plants still in the greenhouse will be saved and relocated.
Cabinet member for the environment Cllr Tim Moore, said: “Natural environments such as parks are already recognised as being beneficial to our health. Creating a special sensory garden in the park will give this effect an extra boost.”
Entry will be free.
