A MERSEYSIDE author has been shortlisted for one of the biggest prizes in children’s literature.
Southport-born Liz Kessler has been nominated in the Blue Peter Book Awards 2012 for her latest offering, A Year Without Autumn.
Thrilled to be shortlisted for her first stand-alone book, Liz said: “I'm absolutely over the moon.
“Blue Peter is an iconic and brilliant children’s programme – and it’s so exciting to be on a shortlist where children themselves make the final decision.
“I’m so honoured that the judges felt that my book deserved a place here.
“I have never thought about awards up until this point, so it did come as a surprise, but it feels good.”
Liz, the author of popular children’s series Emily Windsnap and Philippa Fisher, will find out if she has won on March 1.
