A WIRRAL MP was given an award for her campaign to encourage girls to aim high in their careers.
The Westminster-focused magazine, Total Politics, named Esther McVey MP Of The Month in its New Year edition.
The Wirral West MP said: “This is recognition for all those who have worked and campaigned with me to raise the aspirations of young women.”
The award highlighted her Commons performances and her book, If Chloe Can, which was turned into a stage play by the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain.
It premiered at the Lyric Theatre, London, in November and will tour the country next year.
Miss McVey added: “All the statistics show girls, despite doing well at school, are under-achieving. A key problem is a lack of varied role models.”
