Margaret Holt
THE son of a Wirral woman who has been missing in Lanzarote since Christmas has spoken of his desperate search for her on Canarian television.
Margaret Holt’s son, Ben, and daughter-in-law, Clare Riley, agreed to be filmed yesterday morning to encourage holidaymakers and locals on the island to come forward if they could help.
Mrs Holt, 65, from Poulton, Bebington, was last seen on December 23 and it is feared she may have fallen out walking.
Sandy Bartholomew, a tour guide on Lanzarote, has been helping with the search.
An official large-scale search and rescue operation has now been scaled back, but determined family members, supported by ex-pats and the Lanzarote community, have vowed to find her.
Ms Bartholomew said the family had a sighting of Mrs Holt confirmed where she was last seen in Famara by a holidaymaker they believe has every chance of being from Britain.
She said: “Someone from the UK on holiday in Lanzarote spoke to her.
“They would have gone back for Christmas.
“They would have seen Margaret on their last day, not realising they could have vital information that could – still at this time – save Margaret’s life.”
Speaking of Mrs Holt’s son’s television appearance, Ms Bartholomew said: “They’ve been on Canarian television and have been filmed. But I also know that he had a meeting with the Civil Guard about where we go forward from this point on.”
