LIVERPOOL tv drama Justice is in the running for a Broadcast Award.
The Liverpool-made show was shortlisted for Best Daytime Programme in the 2012 awards, which take place next month.
Justice producer Colin McKeown, of Kirkdale-based LA Productions, said he was “over the moon” that the BBC1 series had made the shortlist.
Mr McKeown, who is also responsible for producing the Moving On series, said he was hopeful the nomination for Justice could help sway television bosses in favour of a recommission.
He said: “It is fantastic to be nominated for this prestigious award, given it is a series set in Liverpool, written in Liverpool and produced in Liverpool – so it is a big plus for us and the city.
“It is great it is getting the recognition it deserves.
“Nominations like this remind people of the quality of the series and hopefully give it that level of recognition it needs when people are thinking about whether they should recommission it.
“A lot of programmes we have done were a series of self-contained stories, but Justice was a complete series. There was a real commitment to the characters and it had a sense of place – and that was Liverpool.”
