MOTORISTS faced rush hour delays after two multiple car accidents and a breakdown in the Wallasey Tunnel.
Eyewitnesses reported traffic backed up along the approach road to the M53 as Tunnel Police tried to deal with the fallout from the incidents.
No injuries were reported in any of the incidents in the tunnel which happened at around 8.25am yesterday.
The first collision involved four vehicles and the second collision three vehicles.
No significant injuries were reported from either collision.
Debris was removed from the carriageway and the drivers and vehicles checked before being removed.
Shortly after the accidents a vehicle broke down spilling a large amount of oil over the carriageway.
All three incidents happened near to the entrance of the tunnel on the Wirral side.
All lanes were fully reopened by 9.10am.
