Arrowe Park Hospital Wirral
HUNDREDS of patients have waited more than a year for treatment at a Merseyside hospital trust.
Wirral Hospitals– which runs Arrowe Park and Clatterbridge– had 706 people on its waiting list for 52-weeks or more in November, the second highest number in England.
Under Government rules they should have been treated within 18 weeks.
The figures, released by the Department of Health, show how long patients waited for operations or other treatment after being referred.
The numbers contrast with other hospitals in the region.
At the Royal Liverpool Hospital no patients have waited for a year.
And only four people were on the list at Fazakerley for that length of time.
The numbers do not reflect on Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology, which is a separate trust.
