THE Liverpool Pilotage Services will be presented with an outstanding global award by Lloyd’s Register at the Town Hall tomorrow.
Liverpool is the first English pilot service to win the International Standards for Pilotage Organisations, which was started five years ago by the Rotterdam Pilotage Service.
The Lord Mayor Frank Prendergast will host the event. David Lloyd, of Lloyd’s Register, who will present the citation to Iolo Thomas, chairman of Liverpool Pilotage Services.
Other guests will include Eric van Dijk, Rotterdam Pilotage Services chairman.
“This award means Liverpool pilots are of the highest international standard,” said Mr Thomas.
The day will also include a visit by the Liverpool Lord Mayor to the pilots’ training simulator in Birkenhead and a river tour.
