THE wife of legendary Liverpool FC manager Bob Paisley has died at the age of 96.
Jessie Paisley, who described herself as “one of the original WAGs”, was at Bob’s side during his nine-year reign as Liverpool manager.
She died yesterday morning in hospital after being diagnosed with a heart infection last week.
Her death comes just days before the 16th anniversary of her husband’s death.
Sons Robert, 63, and Graham, 61, today paid tribute to the “driving force” behind their father.
In a statement released through Liverpool Football Club, Graham, verger at St Peter’s Church, Woolton, said: “She idolised my dad and was very much Liverpool Football Club through and through.
“In fact the last piece of good news she got was the team beating the two Manchester clubs in the cups – she was very pleased about that.”
Jessie was taken to hospital during the FA Cup tie between Manchester United and Liverpool on January 28.
Graham said: “She was so fully supportive of what my dad did – she was always 100% behind him.
“There was no side to her and she never begrudged the time he’d have to spend away from home.”
