Conservative candidate for Merseyside police commissioner Geoff Gubb

What are your three main policing priorities?

Support the chief constable (and his officers) to further cut crime across Merseyside, continue and enhance the work our force is already doing to address drug and gun crime, and achieving effective policing within continued budget constraint.

What expertise will you bring to the role?

An enquiring mind uninfluenced by politics and policing that allows me to question.

I've been fortunate to meet with a wide range of organisations and assess their role, for example in crime prevention and prisoner reform.

What are the biggest challenges facing policing on Merseyside?

Drug and gun crime, certainly.

Why does Merseyside need a PCC?

So all have one elected individual they can turn to.

How would you work with the chief constable?

The role would be new to us both and we’d want to make it work for the good of the police and all Merseysiders.
