WIRRAL Council is to delay a decision on changes to fees paid to care homes.
Wirral Care Association 9WCA), which represents the majority of the borough’s 111 homes, had said the changes could force some of them out of business.
Last month, Wirral council’s cabinet accepted a proposal to consult with care providers on new contracts which would raise fees for 2012-13, backdated to April.
But, the WCA said the changes mean they will have to look after the elderly and provide care for less money and warned of ‘serious consequences’ to vulnerable adults if the changes went ahead.
