A MAN shot at least five times outside his leafy south Liverpool home was last night still in a critical condition.
Currency trader Jason Osu, 31, was ambushed by two masked men who laid in wait outside his home in Woolton Road, Wavertree.
Mr Osu was shot in the face, chest and arms as he parked his Mercedes in the driveway.
Detectives said a motive remains unclear and that Mr Osu had no known links to organised crime.
The suspected getaway car – a stolen Citroen C4 – was later found up in flames in Waldgrave Road, less than a mile away.
Mr Osu, known as “J” to friends, is the brother of Mark Osu, who was suspected by police in the 90s of being a key player in gangland violence then plaguing Merseyside.
Head of the Matrix unit, detective chief superintendent Paul Richardson, urged witnesses to come forward.
He said: “This is a very low-crime, very suburban area of Liverpool. Members of the local community may well have thought there was something iffy going on.
“If anyone thought that, then I appeal for those people to come forward.”
