WIRRAL’S Clatterbridge Cancer Centre has launched the North West’s first mobile chemotherapy unit.
It will be outside the Tesco store at the Sealand Industrial Estate in Chester three days a week in a move to make cancer treatment more accessible to patients.
The unit holds six chemotherapy treatment bays as well as a reception and pharmacy area where nurses can prepare chemotherapy for patients - it is expected to treat around 25 people a day.
Patients will be referred to the service through their current consultant, depending on the type of treatment they need. The service forms part of the Clatterbridge in the Community programme.
