International Festival for Business launch event

LIVERPOOL’S International Festival for Business will be launched to an audience of business leaders today.

The event partner that will help deliver the festival was due to be announced at the Museum of Liverpool to a number of dignitaries.

The festival is a 60 day-long business Expo, starting in June 2014, and is expected to attract 500,000 visitors.

Costing £15m, the festival is anticipated to generate £100m for the region’s economy and valuable worldwide exposure for Merseyside.

It will be staged in three locations: the Echo Arena and BT Convention Centre, the new International Trade Centre in Wirral and a temporary North Liverpool Investment Centre.

Liverpool Vision chief executive Max Steinberg, whose organisation is organising the festival, said: “This is on par with Capital of Culture in terms of size and scale.

“It can be transformational for business, not just in Liverpool, but also the UK.”

Cities and business from across the globe are being invited to see the best of British business.

The UK government wants to use the festival to help meet its target of doubling UK exports by 2020.
