THE names of 1,000 children who died during the Holocaust will be put on display at Liverpool town hall.
The cards will include their ages, where they were born and the place they died.
To mark Holocaust Memorial Day, the public will be asked to honour the memory of the children some of whom were as young as one year old when they died at the hands of the Nazis by selecting one of the name cards and lighting a candle.
The event will be held on Sunday January 27 from 10am to 4pm.
There will also be an event attended by members of the Jewish community at the Town hall the following day. Lord Mayor of Liverpool Cllr Sharon Sullivan said: Holocaust Memorial Day is a time for quiet reflection and to remember those who lost their lives in the Holocaust.
Anyone unable to get to the town hall for the card and candle event but wants a candle to be lit on their behalf can phone on 0151 225 5545, or email firstname.lastname@example.org
