Church in Blundellsands desperate for donations to pay for repairs
A PICTURESQUE church faces a race against time to raise cash for repairs.
St Nicholas’s Church, in Bridge Road, Blundellsands, has structural problems affecting its north side which will require £260,000 to fix.
It has raised £202,000 towards the figure but still needs a further £25,000 – and there are just weeks to go before a crucial grant expires.
The church is now urgently appealing to the community and businesses for financial help.
The Victorian Grade II listed building was originally built following donations from members of the congregation and a bazaar in St George’s Hall.
Restoration fund co- ordinator Albert Kirby said: “We need help to ensure this magnificent building is preserved for future generations.”
