LIVERPOOL FC legend Jamie Carragher was banned from driving after being caught speeding in his Range Rover.
The veteran defender was clocked by traffic police doing 47mph in a 40mph zone on Rimrose Road, between Strand Road and Knowsley Road, Bootle, at 11.43am on Sunday, August 26 last year.
Carragher, 35, of Warren Road, Blundellsands, had previously denied speeding, but changed his plea to guilty at Sefton Magistrates Court this week.
Magistrates banned Carragher from driving for six months, which they said was “obligatory due to repeat offending”.
They also ordered him to pay an £800 fine, £150 court costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
A Liverpool FC spokesman said it was a personal matter for the player on which they had no comment.
Carragher recently announced he would leave the club and retire this summer after more than 700 appearances.
