Rhys Jones detective: Killer has never shown any remorse

Detective Superintendent Dave Kelly, the senior investigating officer in the hunt for Rhys Jones's killer

THE man who led the search to find Rhys Jones's killer today said Sean Mercer had never shown a moment's remorse over the 11-year-old's death.

Flanked by Rhys's parents Melanie and Stephen Detective Superintendent Dave Kelly said: "Since the senseless murder of Rhys Jones, this family have suffered untold grief and distress. We hope this family find some peace in the fact that some justice has been done.

"Sean Mercer's conduct on August 28 showed total disregard for Rhys and others. It's fair to say Sean Mercer has shown no remorse whatsoever and we only hope the verdict will bring home to him the enormity of what he has done and the pain and suffering he has caused."
