The bright lights of Las Vegas attract so many people from across the world, and you can fly there for a long weekend or a longer break. The flight takes about 10 hours direct and although this might seem a long time, the city has become a hot spot for groups getting away for a long weekend. Las Vegas has also become popular for stag and hen parties.

Flights to Las Vegas vary in price depending on the airline you travel with and at what time of year you fly. There are plenty of good deals out there, although some do mean a stopover is necessary, which cuts into your holiday time. Flights should be around £400, although you can get cheaper so it is worth looking around - especially if you are flexible about when you fly.

Las Vegas is situated in the Nevada desert and surrounded by mountains, so temperatures can vary depending on where you are. The summers tend to be a little too hot to walk around comfortably, although if you plan on spending most time in the air-conditioned casinos, this shouldn't be too much of a problem. Autumn time is probably most favourable.

From the airport, it is easy to get to downtown Las Vegas and The Strip. You will fly into McCarren International airport and from there you can pick up a taxi or take a minibus, as both go from the airport to every major hotel. The alternative is to hire a car yourself from a number of the rental companies. Most hotels will be within a 15-minute drive from the airport.

When booking your flight to Las Vegas, it is worth having a look at deals that include hotels as well. There are plenty of hotels in and around Las Vegas - from cheaper bed and breakfasts to the most extravagant hotels such as the infamous Ballagio, with its incredible fountain show outside.

Once in Las Vegas, there is so much to see and do. Gambling and visiting the casinos are obviously what the city is famous for, and there are plenty of places to go.

The Main Strip has the best ones, so it makes sense to start off there. Although don't forget there are other things to see, such as the Atomic Testing Museum, Liberace Museum and the Neon Museum.

The other two biggest attractions to be seen when visiting Las Vegas are the Grand Canyon and the Hoover Dam. Many hotels offer tours that take you into the desert to see both spectacular sights, and this is the best way to view them, as you need a licence to enter the national park. Thrill seekers can also view The Grand Canyon from a helicopter.

Las Vegas is a crazy and incredibly interesting city to visit, with so much going on and an immense amount to see and do. It appeals to people of all ages, and it is easy to see why -with glamorous shows, fantastic restaurants and casinos that never close their doors.
