A UTAH woman got a rude awakening when a boulder the size of a small car crashed through her bedroom wall.
Wanda Denhalter was sleeping alone and narrowly missed being crushed under the boulder after it rolled down a cliff face and came to rest in her masterbedroom.
The 63-year-old underwent four hours of surgery for multiple injuries – including a broken jaw, cracked sternum and a deep laceration that stretches from her knee to her ankle.
It's unknown how the boulder became dislodged from a cliff above their home, but Wanda’s husband Scot Denhalter thinks a broken water pipe at a ridgetop home might have had something to do with it.
A St George city spokesman said that while rocks often roll down the many hills, boulders rarely hit homes.
Scott said luckily he had been staying over at their son’s house that evening to make room for visitors who never arrived, or he would have been killed.
The couple are staying in a hotel and do not plan to return after a state geologist warned them to stay away because of the unstable cliff.
