Police arriving at a domestic dispute shot dead a 15-year-old boy who was wielding a steam iron.
Ronald Timbers was armed with "an object in his hand that he was using as a weapon" when was involved in a confrontation with police outside his home in Philadelphia, said a police spokesman.
The boy continued to approach two officers before he was shot by one in the chest, police said. They have fatally shot 14 people so far this year.
