France 'conkered'

English sportsmen have completed the double over cross channel rivals France, taking the World Conker Championship crown less than 24 hours after dumping Le Bleus out of the Rugby World Cup.

Ady Hurrell, from Whittlesey, Cambs beat Frenchman John Ingram in the final of the championships being held in the village of Ashton, Northamptonshire.

Train driver Mr Hurrell, 36, needed just two shots to smash the nut of his competitor.
