Eagle eye op

A golden eagle has undergone pioneering eye surgery after a dramatic high-voltage accident, it has been revealed.

And the majestic bird of prey is the first in the UK to have been operated on for cataracts.

The huge bird, which has a two-metre wing span and weighs 14lb, was being chased by a flock of ravens, when she lost concentration and crashed into overhead electricity cables.

She was nursed back to help by staff at the Wings over Mull bird sanctuary in Craignure back later developed the eye complaint.
