A retired police drug sniffer dog regularly patrols his new rural beat with his own "off road" wheels supporting his unstable hips.

English Springer spaniel Max is a regular sight in the fields and lanes around his home near Cullompton, east Devon - his two-wheeled harness giving him a new lease of life.

His owner is Devon and Cornwall police inspector Anne Higgins who said specialist drugs dog Max had to retire early because of inherited hip displasia which made him "wobble."
