A police force is to become the first in the country to have one of its cars sponsored by a crime writer.

Author Peter James and his publishers Pan Macmillan have donated a five-door Hyundai Getz saloon to Sussex Police, who will use it to patrol the Brighton and Hove area.

The vehicle, which features images and branding for the best-selling crime novelist, has been donated in recognition of the relationship Mr James has built up with Sussex CID over the years in researching his novels.
