A judge abandoned a drug conspiracy trial in Sydney after jurors were found to have been playing the puzzle game Sudoku while evidence was given.

The jurors were found out after they were spotted writing vertically, rather than horizontally. It had been assumed they were taking notes.

The foreman admitted to the judge that four or five of them had been doing puzzles. "It helps me keep my mind busy," he said.
