Bride Louise Stewart dreamed of arriving at her wedding in a stylish vintage car but instead she rolled up in a police patrol car after being left stranded by the side of the motorway.

Dressed in full bridal gown and veil, Miss Stewart was a real damsel in distress at the side of a motorway roundabout on the M5 in Bristol.

The cream 1955 Armstrong Siddeley Sapphire car broke down on the Aztec West roundabout 10 miles from the country mansion where her groom Dave Carter, 30, and 70 guests were anxiously waiting.
