A bank worker who credited a New Zealand man’s account with around £4 million has been sacked after making a similar mistake.
In May, the worker accidentally credited Leo Gao’s account with the huge overdraft when he had only asked for 100,000 NZ dollars.
He and his partner Kara Hurring fled to Hong Kong days after discovering around 100 times that amount had been credited to their account.
Now Westpac bank says the female employee has been fired after making a similar mistake on a different customer’s account.
