Archaeologists baffled by Catalhoyuk treasure trove of ancient pottery figures

Archaeologists are mystified by a treasure trove of pottery figures unearthed at the site of one of the first towns ever built.

At least 2,000 of the figurines depicting humans, animals and hybrid creatures have been recovered from Catalhoyuk in Turkey at a 9,000-year-old neolithic site.

Researchers have no clues to why the figurines were produced or what they were used for.
