Anish Kapoor makes a very fine mess at the Royal Academy

The peaceful hush of the Royal Academy was broken by cannon fire for a special exhibition.

The regular blasts, which leave one section of the distinguished gallery coated by blood red wax flecks building up over time, are part of a new exhibition by Turner Prize-winning artist Anish Kapoor.

It marks the first time the RA has given its five main galleries over to a retrospective of a living artist’s work.
