Man in court for throwing thousands of golf balls into National Park to commemorate dead

A man who threw thousands of golf balls into California’s Joshua Tree National Park for more than a year to “honour deceased golfers” has been charged with littering.

Douglas Jones also scattered a few tennis balls and left fruit and vegetables along park roads. Cleaning up after him cost 9,000 dollars.

Finally spotted in action last month, Jones told rangers the food was for stranded hikers.
