A butcher has devised a rather expensive strategy to convince customers to plump for locally reared beef - he is giving it away.
Mark McCaffrey, who has shops in Enniskillen and Derrylin, Co Fermanagh, has decided to give away 3,000 home-reared fillet steaks in the hope it will generate support for the region’s beleaguered meat industry.
The buy-one-get-one-free deal, which is running in his Tenderlean shops until Wednesday, has also attracted trade from the border counties of Cavan, Monaghan and Leitrim.
