WE could just rehash the column from most recent weeks for Liverpool FC.

Such was the recurring nature of their draw at Swansea City on Sunday.

Liverpool were technically pretty good, and had more of a cutting edge without having a great cutting edge.

They were much better than Swansea and probably deserved to win, but the goals situation has come back to haunt them again.

I’m a little concerned at the hint Brendan Rodgers dropped that perhaps there may not be much movement in the January transfer window.

That might be just him giving the club’s owners a nudge.

But it will be interesting to see what happens.

Everybody has known since August 31 what Liverpool need, and it’s so key that Fenway Sports Group know they cannot fudge the issue this time.

Liverpool are now unbeaten in eight games, so while it’s so far, so good, there’s still that proviso that much will depend on January.

Not only will players have to come in, they will have to hit the ground running.

I’m starting to wonder whether Rodgers missed a trick with the Capital One Cup.

He maybe should have put a stronger side out against Swansea and gone as far as he could in the competition, because that would have taken the pressure off him somewhat.

But by instead focusing more on the Europa League, it involved more travel and more effort and that could have an effect on Premier League performances.

Sunday was another example of how, after a great start to his Anfield career, things have caught up with Joe Allen a little bit.

But that’s not unusual. Players can have honeymoon periods, but I’m sure he can pull through it. He has the quality.

I wasn’t surprised to see Stewart Downing in the starting line-up at left-back. There aren’t too many right midfielders who can tear you up these days, so he could get away with it.

Jordan Henderson, though, I still have a problem with. I look at him and I see 200 other footballers playing throughout the leagues.

He is an athlete and gets up and down. He is a great trainer and has a great attitude.

But he’s not going to pass anyone in, and doesn’t go past people.

And just look at that. An entire column without mentioning Luis Suarez!
