ONE of sport’s most difficult disciplines for the untrained eye to score, is diving.
I watched lots of the sport, both live and on television, and frankly, all the dives look pretty good to me. And anyway they are over in a flash.
Now, whilst I am delighted we have an Olympic diving medallist in our sporting throng, and Tom Daley’s journey to the podium was as inspiring as it was heart-breaking, I’m not sure whether enthusiastic amateurs, of various level of celebrity, trying to emulate his heroics really makes for Saturday evening peak-time telly.
Only time will tell.
Certainly the reviews for Splash! were so bad that it may get some extra armchair rubber-neckers watching it this week. What is certain is the programme needs to up its game or it will be more Splosh!
