CHESTER CITY’S Deva Stadium could have a change of name next season, after Cestrian Trading Ltd announced that they had signed a five year deal with the Coca-Cola League Two club.
Cestrian Trading will also become the club’s shirt sponsors for the next two years. The agreements were brokered after the club’s existing sponsors UK Sameday announced that they weren’t to carry on sponsoring the club next season.
The North Wales-based courier company, who are owned by City supporter Paul Baker, have been involved in initiatives with the club since their period of exile at Moss Rose, Macclesfield.
City director, Bob Gray, said last night: “I would like to thank Paul Baker and his company for all the excellent backing they have given to us over the years.
“We have moved to tie up deals with Cestrian Trading, and there will also be a number of initiatives that we will be jointly embarking upon.”
It is understood that the Deva Stadium may be renamed The Cestrian Stadium, however, so far the club have been tight-lipped about their eventual renaming plans.
Four years ago the Deva entered into a similar initiative, when a local car dealership embarked on a two-year agreement with City to rename the stadium.
On the field, Chester complete their fixtures tomorrow when Macclesfield Town visit. It is expected that young midfielder Kevin Roberts may be given a well-earned rest, while striker Chris Holroyd has a 50-50 chance of playing following his recent ankle injury.
